Character: Nnoitra Jiruga
Fandom: Bleach
Time Period: Well, he died a few chapters ago, so that seems like a good moment.
Brief Synopsis: Nnoitra is the former fifth Espada of Aizen’s deadly force, signified by the black ‘5’ tattoo on his (overly long) tongue. From his introduction in the manga, he has come across as arrogant, sleazy, lecherous and, as it progressed, chauvinistic to an extant.

At first Nnoitra appears to be your a-typical villain, who thinks that he above all others is the strongest, regardless of his rank. He seems disappointed when he fights Chad, and won’t finish him off because he sees him as a weakling. His fraccion, Tesla, is even threatened for protecting him, as though it is an affront to Nnoitra’s honour to need any sort of protection at all.

When his backstory is revealed, Nnoitra is shown to have an inferiority complex from when he served under Nel Tu, whom he later killed by sneaking up behind her and ‘bashing her head open’. After going on one of his apparently common sprees of killing a ‘couple hundred hollows’, and getting badly injured as a result, Nel tells Nnoitra that he is weaker than she is, which appears to be the starting point for his drive to be better, stronger and more powerful than anyone else.

He dies whilst fighting against Kenpachi, a Shingami, but fought right until the end. He was dead before his body even hit the ground, completely finished off, just as he said he had always wanted to go.


His release gives him extra arms, a superior weapon and the powers of rapid regeneration. (When one of his arms is cut off, he simply sprouts a new one. Nifty~)

Animal Features (specifics): Praying Mantis; mantis wings (too lame for flying, lulz.) and antenna. Also, extra arms if he really wants to. (i.e. released state)
